Hi i was wondering if someone here can tell me if there is a way to view players ip's in a gaming server with out using an admin tool.Like can you use CMD if you are playing in that server at the time.if CMD is possible what is the command ?
or could it be explained to me how the admin tool retrieves them.
No. there are very few games with exceptions where you may get the IP of other players.
Why do you need their IP addresses anyway ...

Most admin tools communicate with a game server via an API. In BF series they use RCON which is a remote console. The GUI admin apps read/write via this interface to get/set the information.
Having all that information in game clients for all to see and abuse would be a disaster waiting to happen

Solving problems requires effort not a college degree.
Have a look at Battlefield Bad Company Server files. See if you can see what data you can read about other players.

I believe it's more of an illusion of disaster waiting to happen. You risk no less having your IP shown in-game as to using the internet to view any website.
Back door trojans are everywhere and require little work to implement on a users computer. If your IP was shown in-game, it would take effort of someone to find it, and do their deeds. All the same risk as to going to any website you never have visited before, but we all do it daily with little or no concern.
IMO, games should entirely block the IP address. If a user needs to be IP banned, the server can do so if you were to type Ban IP Username. Then again, the same goes for everything - your privacy is always at risk online. Using the internet is like walking on glass, eventually you'll get a prick in the foot.

In gaming I would think the worries with having your IP disclosed to all the game clients is not about the risk for viruses and such. There are very few of these security holes left in windows itself, and most gamers in general wouldn't be running very many services listening to the internet.
Besides a hacker would never sink low enough to do so? When there are so many easier ways to get the task done.
I would think the problem would rather be gamers with botnets. It would be a bit of advantage to create lag for other players. Or just really a really high ping.
Me, zeas/neo were recently talking about a warrock struct somewhere in this thread: Updated Structs v2 where I found 3 instances of an I.P address.
One being the server, one being the players ip address and a duplicate of that. No encryption of any kind...
