How does the system work? As I was browsing though the forums a bit, I saw alot of these types of posts:
Very nice +rep, or +reputation
As a matter a fact, I received "rep" myself in one of my posts, and I noticed my reputation went from 10 to 79. I'm not sure how the system works, so if somebody could take a second to explain, that would be much appreciated.
When someone plus reps you your rep increases and so does the rep power some of the time. The little green bars can also increase or decrease if you get plus repped. If you have a high forum rank I think you give more rep but that may only work with mods and up. Then to plus/minus rep you click button() on the left of peoples posts.
That seems odd, ive been looking around more, and i think i got it:
You recive Rep from other members, your repuatation increases, and so does your "rep power" the "rep power" is the amout of reputation that you give to other members, when your +rep them. does that seem correct?
matt is pretty much spot on.
just to add here, if you click your "User/CP" button at the top, you can see who gave +/- rep to you and if they added a comment.

Yeah - you generally give someone reputation if they have made a helpful post. Therefore those with the most reputation are amongst the most helpful / respected members of the community.
The plus rep system works rather well. Be careful for the negative rep though . You dont want people seeing negative rep especially if you are releasing some program because it does not really go over well. Good luck on your endeavor for good rep
( Considering we are on the subject )
+Rep for Roverturbo's Excellent Answer

On the internet I will - in no shape or form - take personal offence to peoples comments, idea's or views, I assume the people who I reply to won't either.
The only person exempt from rep is lotox, due to his -8279812379813713 rep. I, on the other hand, am a living example of people abusing my rep. Almost as much as lotox's.

Reputation system is the fancy way of sucking each others dicks on the internet and the bigger your green bar is the more joy you provide to the world of the internet.
I think the idea was to give some sort of recognition to the users who are good but this has long since been fruitless since everyone has a massive green bar and can give everyone else a massive green bar and for new people to judge members on their massive green bars which everyone has one of these massive green bars is dumb.
Forum would be a way better place if it did not exist, it just leads to unwarranted self importance and egos. And mods who think its serious business.

Real programmer's don't document, if it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.
First learn computer science and all the theory, next develop a programming style, then forget all that and just hack.

I do not know of this "old account" you speak of. I am Skapocalypse, not XIII. I can see why you could be mistaken; however, XIII is in IRC. I am on the forums. Clearly we are two different people.
