I recently updated my profile sig with .gif file with no problem but when i go to to use one for my avitar it just is a still picture and the animation is not there. I have tried uploading from my computer and uploading it from a photobucket. when I open the file on my comp it is animated and when I uploaded it on photobucket it was animated but when i upload it here to use it, it becomes a still image. Any help would be appreciated thanks..
My avatar works fine, Spartens that he has used for years works fine and so do many others that i can find being used at the moment. Your usergroup also states you can use animated.
Send me a private message with a link to the .GIF your trying to use and i will test.

First learn computer science and all the theory, next develop a programming style, then forget all that and just hack.
They work fine when your permissions allow it, each usergroup has a file size and image dimension limit like shown in the red rectangle in the below image.
Your images do not meet these requirements for your usergroup. I suggest reading the custom image note within your UserCP and testing with a image that does meet them. If they do work when you meet requirements then we can see about upping those requirements.
