View Poll Results: Who should be the Feburary 2012 Member of the Month?
We've had a discussion within staff and we want to start trying something new this month.
Previously we have handled the MotM awarding process all within staff, where staff nominated and voted on the award winner every month. After some discussion, we believe that a public community vote would be more appropriate as well as accurate in deciding the MotM award winner rather than the vote of a dozen staff members. We believe that it would be much fairer for the community to vote for who they think deserves to be MotM, rather than a just select few.
A couple of notes about this:
Nominees will still be gathered intra-staff. A list of all nominees will be included in the poll. Nominees are those members which have been noted by staff as being a significant contributor to the community for the month. Moderators keep a close watch for all monthly section contributors and they are included in the list of nominees.
Voting is conducted on the last week of every month, there are 7 days to vote.
Voting will be limited to all members of usergroup Registered - Level 2 and above. We have two reasons for doing this. The first reason is to prevent any sort of cheating with members making multiple accounts to vote. The second reason is that we believe allowing members who have visited UC for a significant period of time, and understand the goals and purpose of UC, will allow for a more responsible and accurate vote and will limit any favoritism or organized votes.
Voting is anonymous, and the vote tally will not be made public until the end of the month when voting is over. This is to enforce honest voting and so that the MotM winner will remain anonymous until the end of the month.

The significance of the Member of the Month award is as follows:

What do MotM award winners receive?
As of now, the MotM award winner receives:
Usertitle and user color recognition for the month that they are MotM.
Usergroup tweak allows the MotM many new small abilities and permission increases on the forum.
An award recognition which will always be visible on the member's posts and in their profile.
+2000 reputation.
Award winner is displayed on the forumhome for the month while they are MotM, along with staff notes and other information.

On the internet I will - in no shape or form - take personal offence to peoples comments, idea's or views, I assume the people who I reply to won't either.
