As some people will have noticed, the site has had some downtime over the last few days. This was mainly small and due to changing servers but it was extended when the site came under DDoS attack at the sametime throwing a spanner into the works.
Although I can manage the DDoS and prevent it (it is still happening as I type this post) I have made the choice to upgrade some server hardware and software. This means the site is going to encounter more downtime sometime over the next day or two. The downtime shouldn't be very long but it could be upto 24 hours (or a tad longer depending on my free time allowing me to sort it all out).
You will know when this has happened because you will get a vbulletin notice about the site being under maintenance, then the site being suspended and finally it will stop accepting connections from users. Sorry for the inconvenience caused with the possible lengthly downtime to come, but the site is free and I'm not paid to sit at my computer maintaining it 24/7 while I put other aspects of my life on the back burner.

First learn computer science and all the theory, next develop a programming style, then forget all that and just hack.

The only people that complain about DDOS are people who have it done to them and people who don't have a big enough botnet.
I wouldn't agree with that statement, but we sure are those who complain the most. DDoSing was a costly problem on my site and certain people still like to attack my home net to make me help them with various issues.

I would imagine rover knows who is ddosing the site, he just doesn't want to mention names here, so as to not elevate the situation.

Solving problems requires effort not a college degree.
I just want to let people know that the server is getting DDoS'ed still (on top of another DDoS that has been happening for over 9 month now) and is under immense strain unless I have strict policies in place. These policies on top of the DDoS'ing will cause the site to run slower than normal. This can't be helped and is something people shall have to live with for the time being until certain people are not butt hurt anymore.

Two DDoS's at once, in other words a double DDoS. So DDDoS. The people doing it are dickheads, so it's a DDDDoS - Dickheaded Double Distributed Denial of Service attack.
Thanks for keeping us updated and for your hard work. I appreciate that you don't have to tell us what's going on, but you do, which is great.
